The 17th Food Colloids Conference will take place at the University of Leeds, UK.

Food Colloids Conference 2018 will be held in two buildings, which are a short distance apart.

Onsite registration will take place in The Parkinson Court, located in the University’s signature Parkinson Building.  The Parkinson Court will also host the poster exhibition, refreshments and exhibitors’ stands.

The Rupert Beckett Lecture Theatre in the Michael Sadler Building will host all the oral presentation sessions.

Getting to the University of Leeds

The University campus is approximately half a mile from the City Centre on Woodhouse Lane, the A660. Leeds is linked to the M1 and M62 and is very easily accessible.

By Air

The City of Leeds is served by two major airports: Leeds Bradford and Manchester.  Regular flights are available from a huge number of European and International cities.  Leeds Bradford airport is approximately 8 miles from The University and taxis cost in the region of £20. Manchester airport is 59 miles from The University and has excellent train and motorway links to Leeds. For visitors arriving at London Heathrow Airport there are frequent trains to London Kings Cross Railway Station (see information By Train)

Taxis from Leeds Bradford Airport cost from £20 – £25. Taxis from Leeds Train Station cost £5 – £7. When travelling in Leeds please ensure you take licensed taxis.

By Train

Leeds station connects us with all major UK cities and has a fast and efficient London service. The principal station that runs trains to Leeds is London Kings Cross.  For train information and timetables visit the National Rail Enquiries    Visitors should expect to pay under £40.00 for a return ticket between Manchester Airport and Leeds and around £270.00 for a return ticket from Heathrow Airport to Leeds.  All travelling times vary depending on the time and day.


The University campus is just a 20 minute walk from Leeds city station.

Exit the station into City square; with the Queens Hotel behind you, walk straight up Park Row. Continue up Park Row until the first major junction. Cross straight over The Headrow and continue up Cookridge Street. At the next set of lights continue straight ahead, passing Millennium Square on your left and Leeds City Museum on your right.

Turn left on to Woodhouse Lane, a busy main road. You will pass Leeds Beckett University on your left and our University campus begins in another 100 metres. To reach the Parkinson building, carry on up Woodhouse Lane to the Parkinson clocktower building.


Where possible we suggest the use of public transport to travel to the University. Parking at the University of Leeds is extremely limited, and must be booked in advance, chargeable at £7.00 per day (card payment only).

If parking is required please email fc2018@leeds.ac.uk with required dates, your name and vehicle registration number. Parking will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Access to the car park is available via the main University entrance on Woodhouse Lane (Postcode LS2 9JT). All other University vehicle entrances are limited to permit holders only.
